Tina loses it again

Ghosts of the past are spooking house music wizard DJ Oskido.

Oskido’s ex-girlfriend Tina soiled the reputation of his joint Kalawa Jazzmee Lounge, formerly known as Zambezi Lounge, in Jozi after she went on the rampage, manhandling female patrons whom she accused of orchestrating her break with the vinyl-spinner.

Eyewitnesses who spoke to Sunday World on condition of anonymity say a visibly drunk Tina blitzed into the lounge and accused female patrons of engineering her break-up with Oskido.


“Tina arrived at the joint visibly drunk on Sunday. Oskido had dumped her at the beginning of the year.


“She started swearing at some women patrons who were chatting to Oskido. She tried to stab a woman by the name of Bongi, whom she accused of making Oskido dump her,” says the source.


It is alleged that security guards who witnessed the fracas threw her out of the club.
But, like a hyena waiting for the lions to finish feeding, Tina waited for the woman outside the club till 6am.
It is alleged she was running up and down barefoot, threating to kill her, and that she later dozed off in the car park, where her bag was stolen.


Her business manager was there earlier. He tried to calm her down but failed.


“A bouncer by the name of Shabba did a great job by stopping this lady from messing things up.


“This woman needs help. I think she has lost it upstairs.

“How can a normal artist or a role model run barefoot from 10pm till 6am in front of her fans?

“Although she is our friend, I think the media, her record label and family needs to help her,” says the source.

Pressed for comment, Oskido says: “I was not involved in the whole thing. I don’t have time for these things. I have time to build the brand (Kalawa Jazzmee) and to work for my family.”


Club manager Themba Ngwenya says they threw her out because she was drunk and was attacking people.

“I don’t care if she is a Kalawa artist. I run this club and no one comes here and causes problems. She must behave herself if she wants to come and enjoy herself here, ” he says.

“People mustn’t be afraid to come here because of her.”


Tina couldn’t be reached for comment at the time of going to press as her phone was off and she failed to reply to messages.

King of Kwaito

King of kwaito Arthur Mafokate is at it again. If he is not attacking DJs he is rejecting photo-shoots. This time he turned down a magazine cover shoot after discovering that designer and model Ephraim Malingoana was styling the shoot.

He was scheduled to shoot a Move cover on Tuesday, but told the editor he wouldn’t shoot the cover unless they changed the stylist.

Arthur says he isn’t against Malingoana (of Ephymol fame) personally, but he has a big problem with him professionally.

A source close to Sunday World confides that the problem began last year after Malingoana agreed to perform in Chomee’s video for the hit song Take You There at Rosebank Mall.

According to the source, Malingoana never pitched and ignored Arthur’s calls.

Arthur confirms this and says he had to change the script and the concept on the day of the shoot – and pay extra money for the changes.

“On top of that, he kept lying that he was on his way until we decided to change the concept. That is so unprofessional,” he says.

Early this week when he learnt that Malingoana was the main stylist, he called the editor and said he wouldn’t make it. Chomee was already waiting for Arthur at the shoot.

Arthur says he takes his job seriously and likes to work with professional people who have integrity.

Malingoana says Mafokate can go fly a kite. He says he has passed the days when he used to dance on people’s videos. He says that after sourcing out clothes for the shoot, he was told he would no longer be doing the shoot with Arthur.

“He is such a little boy. I mean, why didn’t he call me if he had a problem with that?” he asks.

Malingoana says he was called a day before he was to shoot Chomee’s video and asked Arthur what time he had to be there.

“He said I must be there for the whole day, as if I have time to be following Arthur around.”

Malingoana says he was never asked to style the video and he has done Mafokate lots of favours before.

Local singer goes back to her igqirha roots

For the last 10 years, local artist Mercy Pakela has been denying her true calling – to be an igqirha (traditional doctor). Today the former disco star is relishing in her chosen profession saying:

“Now it has caught up with me, I cannot escape any more. I have been in denial for too many a time and this had impacted badly on my musical career and social life”.

Pakela is most famous for her recording of Ayashisa Amateki. But now the singer hopes to change her life and put her wayward past behind her. She has spent three weeks at Thantseka village, a stone’s throw away from AbaThembu King Buyelekhaya Dalindyebo’s Bumbane Great Place, undergoing several Thembu rituals and cleansing ceremonies as part of the process of becoming an igqirha. These included imbeleko and intonjane, a young woman’s initiation.

Pakela says the reason for her finally adhering to her destiny came to her in a dream. “The dream instructed me to go to a Transkei village near Mthatha where I must undergo certain rituals and start the process of ukuvuma intwaso (accepting the ancestral call of becoming igqirha),” she said.

“These are rituals that I was supposed to have undergone in my teens,” said the 44-year-singer.

The rituals will culminate in her official acceptance of ubugqirha – a three- day ceremony.

“This is a turning point in my life and I hope many good things will happen for me,” she said.

Jub Jub leaves Survivor because of Genitals

Celebrity Survivor premiered last week on Mnet on a very High Note as Fans and enthusiasts got glued to their screens. Last night was more drama at the Mozambican Island of Santa Carolina with 2 celebrity contestants bowing out. Former Miss South Africa Cindy Nel who was a hopeful on the series but ended up getting voted off the show as her fellow contestants voted her off. Then came another dilemma at the Island, Jub Jub (Hip Hop Artist) quit the game. He claimed that the reasons behind it was that he had a coral infection on his penis, which turned out to be minor. He was later taken to Hospital for treatment and had to leave the Island because he was concerned that the matter would get worse and result in his Penis falling off. The DJ Sbu Breakfast Show had to interview the Star to find out if the claims were true.
